This journey started a few months back when I showed someone my black belt license from 20 years ago. What an I opener, I have not spent that much physical training in over the last few years, meaning I have not maintained that fighting weight of 200 pounds, maybe a few more. Well I decided that is time to give it ago and work my way back to fighting weight. I know how to do it, over 30 plus years in trying and figuring out every exercise know to mankind, 20 plus years as a blackbelt, it is just finding the time to do it is another story.
My story is like most, in the middle nintes I was working more than there were hours in the week and I was not putting in 6 hours a day teaching karate. Let me see, I think I am seeing my down fall. Anyway, not making money to exercise, yes I made money teaching karate for several years and it was fun, I lost interest in staying in top physical shape.
My history starts back playing baseball, basket ball, tennis and some football and soccer growing up. At thirteen I found a weight set, that changed a lot. I was able to increase my strength a great deal. About the same time I also found running was lots of fun. The elementary school my goal was to have the fastest time in the 800 meters for 8th grade. I know it was a small goal but I was able to meet it, then I was hooked. Then I started working on the mile, Dave Whatel was one of the best milers at the time. For some reason the two mile run was what my mind set it self on. Maybe if I could out run you for 2 miles, I could loose you.
Fast forward to today, I am working on the diet to get in my favorite jeans and not measure my weight or inches. Now common. What are you doing? a diet has to be about weight loss. Who says? I have always been a mavrick.
I can remember going into a commercial gym and the guy asks me do you want to improve on your body. I was not sure of that answer, at the time I weighted 170 pounds, benched pressed 300, dead lifted close to 500 pounds and could run 2 miles in nine minutes. Hmmmm, not sure what I needed to improve on.

Always a continued journey
